Day 7: 02/04; Journey to Zermatt● Navigating scenic landscapes through the mountains, we take the Glacier Express Train from St. Moritz to Zermatt. The Glacier Express is a must-do when visiting Switzerland because it provides a luxurious, full-day, panoramic rail journey through the heart of the Alps, showcasing a stunning variety of iconic landscapes, from the Matterhorn to the Rhine Gorge, that cannot be experienced in the same way by any other means of transport. ● The Glacier Express will arrive in Zermatt around 5pm, at which time you will proceed to the chosen accommodation, using an electric taxi (please note that Zermatt is a car free village) for check-in.● Enjoy dinner in town or simply choose to relax after a long day of travel.
Day 8: 02/05; Glacier Paradise and Matterhorn Glacier Trail● Europe's highest vantage point: The Matterhorn Glacier Paradise is home to Europe's highest mountain station and viewing platform, offering a stunning 360-degree panorama of 38 four-thousand-meter peaks and 14 glaciers across three countries.● Unique glacier exploration: Visitors can explore the Matterhorn Glacier Trail to see the effects of glacier retreat and then venture into the enchanting Glacier Palace a stunning world of eternal ice with intricate sculptures and an ice slide, located 15 meters below the surface.● Accessibility to alpine wonders: The destination offers an easy and comfortable way to experience high-altitude alpine environments and stunning Matterhorn views via a modern cable car system, without needing mountaineering experience or equipment.
Day 9: 02/06; Gornergrat and Riffelsee● Morning Scenic Railway: Take the historic Gornergrat Railway from the station opposite the main Zermatt train station. The open-air train offers breathtaking views on the way up to the summit (3,089m).● Summit Views: At the top of Gornergrat, you will be treated to arguably the best views of the Matterhorn, the Monte Rosa massif (Switzerland's highest peak), and the massive Gorner Glacier.● Afternoon Riffelsee Lake Walk (Conditional): Take the train one stop down to Rotenboden. From here, a short walk leads to the Riffelsee Lake, famous for its perfect reflection of the Matterhorn. In May, check locally if this specific trail is free of snow; it may still be snowy.● Late Afternoon: Continue down the mountain on the train, potentially stopping at Riffelalp for a short walk before returning to Zermatt.● Dinner: Enjoy a final dinner in Zermatt, perhaps trying some local Valais specialties.
